HOW to GET TO ISLAY.
Logan Air flies twice daily (on Saturdays & Sundays, only one flight) to & from Glasgow Airport to Islay. Logan air are adding a new flight from Edinburgh so please contact the airline for more information. www.loganair.co.uk
The Ferry sails between Islay and Kennacraig on the Kintyre Peninsular. Also Oban connections are possible, Wednesday and Saturdays. Please visit www.Calmac.co.uk for sailing times and fares.
It is advisable to make reservations in advance for sea crossings with a car, at all times of the year.
Driving time from Glasgow to Kennacraig on the A 83, is approximately three hours. The ferry is currently operated by CalMac and takes two hours. Tel: 01880 730253 or 01496 302209 for car Reservations. Foot passengers do not need a reservation but should arrive half an hour before sailing. Free car parking at Kennacraig is available. However you are advised some form of transport is needed to explore the island.

Directions to the Shepherd Hut
From Port Askaig
Head out of the Port take the second right turning following the signs towards Bunnahabain Distillery. Follow the road for 2 miles approximately until you see Ardnahoe Loch on your right, the turning to the new Ardnahoe Distillery on the left, you will see a wooden house and the Shepherd Hut on the Loch. Pull into the drive and park.
From Port Ellen / Airport
Head towards Bridgend and follow the road to Port Askaig. Pass through Keills and take the turning on your left signposted Bunnahabain Distillery. Follow the road for 2 miles approximately until you see Ardnahoe Loch on your left, the turning to the new Ardnahoe Distillery on the right. You will see a wooden house and the Shepherd Hut on the Loch. Pull into the drive and park.
